Dino GTS “Del Sol” fun transformation

Found on the web page Bring-a-Trailer, this car is a nice Ferrari Dino GTS homage built blending an old Kelmark GT kit and a 1993 Honda Civic Del Sol. The overall effect is quite near to the real car (even if the car looks unfinished) but the interior is far from the original style even if it has a vintage look with a Saab Sonnett cockpit.

Trovata sulla pagina web Bring-a-Trailer, quest’auto è un simpatico omaggio alla Ferrari Dino GTS costruito fondendo un vecchio kit Kelmark GT e una Honda Civic Del Sol del 1993. L’effetto complessivo è abbastanza vicino a quello della vettura reale (anche se l’auto appare incompiuta), ma gli interni sono lontani dallo stile originale anche se hanno un aspetto vintage con un abitacolo preso da una Saab Sonnett.

Road to perfection: GTO Engineering 250 SWB revival

The Ferrari 250 SWB is one of the rarest and most desirable car, only a few “elected” can have one. It’s a collector sacred object with a purchase value that could easily be around 13 million euros, for its only 103 units produced. The car you can see here is more than a mere replica, is a brand new car build like the original. The car has been recreated by the GTO Engineering team starting from the original design drawings, creating a tubular chassis and a hand beaten aluminum body. This re-creation has a magnificent V12 Colombo aspirated engine, 3.0, 3.5 or 4.0 liters, with power starting at 280 HP, matched to a 4 or 5 speed manual gearbox. The braking system is inspired by the past but uses modern components with high performance pads and lightweight discs. The car is fitted with 15 or 16 inch rims that can be satin or chrome finished. More than 30 cars have already been booked, from all over the world. It takes 12 to 18 months to hand build one of these cars. The price is over one million euros, an important figure for a replica but not for a car that aims at perfection.

È un oggetto sacro da collezione con un valore d’acquisto che potrebbe facilmente aggirarsi intorno ai 13 milioni di euro, per le sole 103 unità prodotte. L’auto che vedete qui è più di una semplice replica, è un’auto nuova di zecca come l’originale. L’auto è stata ricreata dal team di GTO Engineering partendo dai disegni di progetto originali, creando un telaio tubolare e una carrozzeria in alluminio battuto a mano. Questa ri-creazione ha un magnifico motore aspirato V12 Colombo da 3.0, 3.5 o 4.0 litri, con potenza a partire da 280 CV, abbinato a un cambio manuale a 4 o 5 marce. L’impianto frenante si ispira al passato ma utilizza componenti moderni con pastiglie ad alte prestazioni e dischi leggeri. L’auto è dotata di cerchi da 15 o 16 pollici che possono essere satinati o cromati. Sono già state prenotate più di 30 auto, da tutto il mondo. Ci vogliono dai 12 ai 18 mesi per costruire un esemplare. Il prezzo supera il milione di euro, una cifra importante per una replica ma non per un’auto che punta alla perfezione.
