Dino GTS “Del Sol” fun transformation

Found on the web page Bring-a-Trailer, this car is a nice Ferrari Dino GTS homage built blending an old Kelmark GT kit and a 1993 Honda Civic Del Sol. The overall effect is quite near to the real car (even if the car looks unfinished) but the interior is far from the original style even if it has a vintage look with a Saab Sonnett cockpit.

Trovata sulla pagina web Bring-a-Trailer, quest’auto è un simpatico omaggio alla Ferrari Dino GTS costruito fondendo un vecchio kit Kelmark GT e una Honda Civic Del Sol del 1993. L’effetto complessivo è abbastanza vicino a quello della vettura reale (anche se l’auto appare incompiuta), ma gli interni sono lontani dallo stile originale anche se hanno un aspetto vintage con un abitacolo preso da una Saab Sonnett.

Road to perfection: GTO Engineering 250 SWB revival

The Ferrari 250 SWB is one of the rarest and most desirable car, only a few “elected” can have one. It’s a collector sacred object with a purchase value that could easily be around 13 million euros, for its only 103 units produced. The car you can see here is more than a mere replica, is a brand new car build like the original. The car has been recreated by the GTO Engineering team starting from the original design drawings, creating a tubular chassis and a hand beaten aluminum body. This re-creation has a magnificent V12 Colombo aspirated engine, 3.0, 3.5 or 4.0 liters, with power starting at 280 HP, matched to a 4 or 5 speed manual gearbox. The braking system is inspired by the past but uses modern components with high performance pads and lightweight discs. The car is fitted with 15 or 16 inch rims that can be satin or chrome finished. More than 30 cars have already been booked, from all over the world. It takes 12 to 18 months to hand build one of these cars. The price is over one million euros, an important figure for a replica but not for a car that aims at perfection.

La Ferrari 250 SWB è una delle auto più rare e desiderabili, solo pochi “eletti” possono averne una. È un oggetto sacro da collezione con un valore d’acquisto che potrebbe facilmente aggirarsi intorno ai 13 milioni di euro, per le sole 103 unità prodotte. L’auto che vedete qui è più di una semplice replica, è un’auto nuova di zecca come l’originale. L’auto è stata ricreata dal team di GTO Engineering partendo dai disegni di progetto originali, creando un telaio tubolare e una carrozzeria in alluminio battuto a mano. Questa ri-creazione ha un magnifico motore aspirato V12 Colombo da 3.0, 3.5 o 4.0 litri, con potenza a partire da 280 CV, abbinato a un cambio manuale a 4 o 5 marce. L’impianto frenante si ispira al passato ma utilizza componenti moderni con pastiglie ad alte prestazioni e dischi leggeri. L’auto è dotata di cerchi da 15 o 16 pollici che possono essere satinati o cromati. Sono già state prenotate più di 30 auto, da tutto il mondo. Ci vogliono dai 12 ai 18 mesi per costruire un esemplare. Il prezzo supera il milione di euro, una cifra importante per una replica ma non per un’auto che punta alla perfezione.

Miura replica from Japan

In 2015 at the Tokyo Auto Salon was unveiled this gorgeous Lamborghini Miura replica based on a Mazda MX-5. Yes, You’ve read right, a Mazda Miata inside! The Roadster Garage based in Aichi (Japan) used the frame from the ultra reliable roadster to build this replica with this faithful bodywork made of fiberglass. If the look is incredibly close to the real car we can’t say the same thing about the mechanical part, in fact the car has a front mounted (and swapped) V8 and a fake FRP molded V12 engine in the back. The final result is stunning and the overall effect is breathtaking. At the moment this car seems to be a one-off but it has a regular japanese homologation and registration. It deserves to be published for the great job done and the fact that replicas of the Miura are very rare, almost like the original car. Nel 2015 al Salone dell’Auto di Tokyo è stata presentata questa splendida replica della Lamborghini Miura basata su una Mazda MX-5. Sì, avete letto bene, c’è sotto una Mazda Miata! Il Roadster Garage con sede ad Aichi (in Giappone) ha utilizzato il telaio della ultra affidabile roadster per costruire questa replica con questa fedele carrozzeria in vetroresina. Se l’aspetto è incredibilmente vicino alla macchina vera, non possiamo dire la stessa cosa della parte meccanica, infatti l’auto ha un V8 (scambiato col 4 cilindri) montato anteriormente e un finto motore V12 modellato in FRP nella parte posteriore. Il risultato finale è sorprendente e l’effetto complessivo è mozzafiato. Al momento questa vettura sembra essere una “one-off” ma ha omologazione e immatricolazione giapponesi regolari. Merita di essere pubblicata per l’ottimo lavoro svolto e per il fatto che le repliche della Miura sono molto rare, quasi come l’auto originale. Lamborghini Miura replica

Replica of the coolest Lambo built from 1966 to 1973, this car was originally done by V8 Archie (known for his Fiero V8 conversions) about 12 years ago, starting with a fiberglass Miura body made in the U.K. by Parallel Designs, at V8 Archie they custom-built a dash, console, and overhead console; modified a set of aftermarket bucket seats; and scratch-built Miura-style inner door panels. The car was originally finished in a nice blue metallic paint scheme. As the donor car was a Pontiac Fiero the orginal engine was removed (in line 4 or V6 would be poor substitute for the Miura’s V12) and replaced by a Corvette LS3 V8 engine with 435 HP mated to a GM transverse five-speed gearbox. The chassis was also lengthened and the suspension upgraded to handle the power. Archie and his technicians were also able to modify and create an air-conditioning system in the car. In 2016 the car was bought and sent to Simpson Design of Clinton (Washington) for some rework and upgrade such as scratch-built new seats with a more original style and new wheels reproduction with the original design (by Chris Coddington).  –  (info and pics from REINCARNATION magazine)

Replica della più bella Lambo costruita dal 1966 al 1973, questa vettura è stata originariamente realizzata da V8 Archie (famoso per le sue Fiero convertite V8) circa 12 anni fa, a partire da una carrozzeria Miura in vetroresina realizzata nel Regno Unito dalla Parallel Designs. Presso V8 Archie sono stati fatti su misura cruscotto, console centrale e console del tettuccio; sedili avvolgenti modificando una serie aftermarket; e pannelli porta creati su disegno. L’auto era originariamente finita con una bella verniciatura blu metallizzato. Dal momento che l’automobile di partenza era una Pontiac Fiero, il motore originale fu rimosso (il 4 in linea o il V6 sarebbero stati pessimi sostituti del V12 della Miura) e rimpiazzato da un motore V8 LS3 della Corvette con 435 CV accoppiato a un cambio a cinque marce GM. Anche il telaio è stato allungato e le sospensioni potenziate per gestire la potenza. Archie e i suoi tecnici sono stati anche in grado di modificare e creare un sistema di aria condizionata sulla macchina. Smarlinette è il nome, la fusione di Smart e Berlinette (il soprannome francese dell’A110 negli anni ’60).
